Collier Tarn

‘Collier Tarn’ explores the heritage of my hometown, Barnsley through revisiting the novel Kestrel for a Knave by Barry Hines and inspired from the film Kes (1969) directed by Ken Loach. The name ‘Collier Tarn’ comes from the heritage of the Coal Mines. ‘Tarn’ is what locals call the town centre. Through using a ‘Psychogeography’ approach I have been able to explore my interest in the history of the town despite feeling disconnection from the town since I was 16.
